1839 CONTEMPORARY GALLERY

1839 當代藝廊

For this weeks vlog I’m excited to have visited 1839 an art gallery here in Taipei, Taiwan. Once again I found that it was a smaller venue then I was originally expecting; comparable to the gallery I visited in my previous vlog, the Good Underground Art Studio. Both the layout and the operation style were similar to that of the Good Underground Art Studio. To me, this showed a commonality to art galleries here in Taiwan. These common themes of localization and intimacy are both very different from the kinds of experiences I have found in North America; which I talk more significantly about in my vlog. 我很高兴是因为我上个周末去1839。因为我去1839 去得很早，所以我不可以拍片。他们还没准备好。在加拿大我不能很早去一个美术馆我也不能早一点儿看看他们的照片。可是在台北，他们告诉我没问题. 觉得非常有意思。我觉得1839不但漂亮而且很有意思。

I found my final vlog the most interesting to work on. The reasons for this is because it allowed me to think about the larger implications of my experiences. 1839, as a museum, provided a very interesting experience. 1839 showed me that the art galleries here in Taiwan really are different from those commonly found in north America. While the good underground art gallery did the same thing, to some extent, getting to experience two galleries with the same kind of format and procedures allowed me to make a broader conclusion about art galleries and art in general in Taiwan. 

One problem I faced while creating my final vlog, was being unable to get to the gallery itself. Due to no longer having data I had trouble navigating myself from the train station to the gallery. While lost I had asked for directions from people nearby however, the first few people I spoke to were unable to help, as they also didn’t know where the gallery was located. Because I had though my personal written instructions would be enough to guide me, I had not thought to take note of the specific address. I was eventually able to find a roadside map that helped me orient myself in relation to the pictures of the map I had with the gallery on it. While this challenge was very disheartening at the time, the experiences I had in the 1839 gallery made it worth the trouble of arriving. 

去1839的时候，我迷路了。我问很多的人1839在哪儿。可是他们都不知道。后来我看了地图所以我可以去1839了。我觉得1839不但很有意思而且很漂亮。在1839的时候，我跟那位美术家聊天儿。他们都又酷又聪明。他们说日文和英文。他们也说一点儿中文。
