在2019 UBC Go Global的海外项目中，19位UBC的学生来到台湾，在台湾度过了六周挥汗如雨的夏天。

这六周以来，老师看到你们惊人的成长，在新的文化与陌生的环境中，学习开口，也学习把自己的心打开，试着了解，甚至拥抱和你不一样的文化与思想，也和其他来自世界各地的同学们一起共患难，当然，还有共享乐！谢谢你们每个人都如此勇敢地走出自己舒适圈，也不忘带着你的朋友一起探索新的世界。

老师很高兴看到你们在项目的最后，看到的是文化间的共同性，而不仅仅是他们的差异，这是跨文化之间，人们之所以能对话的立基。

老师很喜欢一句古老的非洲谚语—“If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together.” 这个夏天，我们走得又快又远，让我们继续一起同行。

The 2019 UBC Go Global Overseas program arranged 19 students to travel to Taiwan this summer. The students spent six weeks in Taiwan where the weather was extremely hot and humid.

In the past six weeks, I am so proud to see everyone’s phenomenal growth. You were all learning a new culture in an unfamiliar environment, learning a new language, and learning to open your hearts to try and understand, as well as to embrace, a culture that is so different from yours. I am delighted to see that each one of you were willing to stick together through thick and thin, and definitely, share joys and sorrows with one another. Thank you to each one of you for being so brave and willing to step out of your comfort zone, and not forgetting to explore this new adventure with your friends.

I am also so pound to see that you can realize and recognize the commonality of different cultures rather than their differences in the end of our program. This is a significant base for all of us to make connections and understand each other in cross-cultural relations.

I want to share with you all an old African proverb that I personally love — “If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together.” This summer, we went fast and far. Let’s not stop things where they are at and continue to walk on this journey together.
