FIND A FRIEND TO PLAY BASKETBALL
找朋友跟我一起打篮球

My third vlog was a cinematic masterpiece. I spent two days wandering the streets of Taipei filming and put a ton of effort into creating the best possible vlog. I took a much different approach while filming this vlog. I decided, with encouragement from the teachers, to speak exclusively in Chinese in this vlog. I knew I could not speak Chinese for 3 minutes straight without an extensive script so I decided to have multiple scenes instead of one long scene. I think this strategy enabled me to embrace a creativity I previously had not explored. I had a lot of fun filming all the walking cut scenes and was always on the lookout for new and interesting locations to film. I also enjoyed filming all over and had to get outside of my comfort zone to film publicly. I was also very happy to explore the city of Taiwan and, am grateful to have stumbled upon the Hakka Cultural Park because I feel it massively contributed to my vlog. It was interesting to experience a unique part of Taiwanese culture with complete spontaneity.  I had also been meaning to go to the Guting Riverside Park and to explore the parks that run along the river so I was very happy that my vlog gave me an excuse to visit that section of Taiwan. I was very impressed with the amount of infrastructure along the river, as every couple hundred meters there was a basketball court, tennis court, or exercise equipment.
I thought this project was an interesting way to learn about Taiwanese culture and the city of Taiwan. If I was to do it again I would want to change two things; first I would like to actually talk to a Taiwanese person and do an interview with them. I did not feel comfortable approaching a random person or attempting to befriend a stranger in hopes of interviewing them for a school project. I think an interview would have added a layer of depth to my project that is impossible to capture from my own perspective alone. Perhaps if I had a partner I would have felt comfortable approaching a stranger for an interview. The second thing I would like to do differently is to have a partner. I think a partner would contribute to a variety of ideas and enable a greater degree of investigation into my topic. I think having a partner would have made everything a little easier; from approaching strangers or editing. I also wish I had actually had an opportunity to play basketball with some Taiwanese friends.
Ultimately, I was very happy with the progression of my vlogs. I think perhaps I could have made them more informative, to more effectively convey what I have learned in Taiwan and demonstrate a unique part of Taiwanese culture. I was very happy with the light-hearted essence of them and enjoyed this project.
