ABOUT ME
我的中文名字叫梁轩霖。我是在加拿大生的,我也是在加拿大学习的。虽然我是中国人可是我在家的时候不会说中文，有的时候会说广东话，是因为我的家人是香港来加拿大的。我是在加拿大的UBC学数学的。这是因为我对财务和概率有兴趣。不是上课的时候，我喜欢做菜，是因为除了自己可以吃好吃的食物以外，看到别人喜欢我做的菜，跟我开开心心吃饭是最好的感觉。
My Chinese name is 梁轩霖. I was born in Canada and I study in Canada too. Although I am of Chinese descent, my family doesn’t speak Mandarin, only some Cantonese. This is because my family is originally from Hong Kong. I study math in UBC. This is because of my interest for finances and probability. When I’m not in class, I enjoy cooking. The benefits of cooking do not only include eating delicious foods but also to be able to experience the feeling of enjoying a meal with people who love your food.
WHAT THIS PROGRAM BROUGHT ME
为了提高我的中文水平，我想来这个项目是因为我知道在台湾学中文会对我的中文比在UBC学好。我明白中文是一个很多人讲的话，在加拿大或者美国都会很有讲，所以我一年前开始学中文。因为我们今天的世界的交通很方便，所以我知道在哪里都会有中国人跟我一起做工作，我觉得在这个项目的地方学中文会对我给别人的印象好。我会知道亚洲的文化怎么样，跟人说话都会有多一点讲。
To be able to improve the my understanding of the Chinese language, I wanted to go to Taiwan to study Chinese because I know it would improve my Chinese proficiency more than if I took it at UBC. I understand that Chinese is a very common language and it’s spoken in both Canada and the United States, so that’s why I believe I will come across Chinese people when I practice my future profession. I think that learning Chinese in Taiwan will allow me to communicate more effectively as I can not only speak more than those not taking the program but also be educated with the Taiwanese culture.

WHAT I SEE IN TAIWAN
在我的vlog，我问本地人他们对台湾食物和生活的想法。我常常会问大学生问题可是都有老一点的时代的人。如果您看这个vlog，你会明白台湾人会想什么算便宜，什么是台湾的方便习惯。
In my vlog, I ask local Taiwanese people on their impression regarding Taiwanese food and lifestyle. I usually ask university students but I also ask the older generation for their opinions too. If you watch this vlog, you will understand what local Taiwanese consider to be cheap and their “convenient” lifestyle.

Practicum Day
我那几天除了经验花莲的名胜古迹以外，我还可以经验台湾城市外面的生活。在这个环境，我做什么都一定要靠自己的中文。我跟本地人说话的时候才明白为什么很多人喜欢住在城市外，是因为城市的生活比较快。在城市外面什么都会做的慢。开车会慢慢地开，吃饭会慢慢地吃，说话会慢慢地说，生活会比较舒服。虽然我喜欢城市这种生活，可是我最后明白为什么大家喜欢住乡下。
In addition to going to tourist attractions in Taiwan for those few days, I also experienced the country-side lifestyle. In this environment, I was forced to rely on my own Chinese to get by. As I was talking to a local person in Hualien, I realized why people enjoy living in the country-side. It’s because the city lifestyle is very fast-paced. In the country-side, everything is slower; the people drive slower, eat slower, and talk slower, the lifestyle is more comfortable. Although I like the city-lifestyle, I finally realized the beauty of living outside the city side.
