ABOUT ME

I am a student at UBC going into fourth year in Cognitive Systems and the Brain. Hobbies include reading, writing, playing instruments and watching Netflix. At home I have a weird assortment of instruments ranging from the flute to the hulusi.

WHAT THIS PROGRAM BROUGHT ME

This summer program brought me a lot. I came here to improve my Mandarin so I would be able to speak with members of my family since I wasn’t really taught any growing up. The program helped my Mandarin get better and gave me a lot of great memories to look back on.

WHAT I SEE IN TAIWAN

Instruments in Taiwan 台湾的乐器

For my vlog I took a look at instruments in Taiwan, comparing their traditional style to the style of the West. If you want a brief introduction  of instruments in Taiwan and how they match up to the West, you’ve come to the right place.

EXPLORING TAIWAN

Practicum Day

For the Practicum Weekend, I went to Hualien. Hualien is a beautiful place with massive mountains and clear water. We went to Qixing beach. The beach there is rocky, but it littered with all sorts of rocks from snow quartz to jade. We went to Qingshui cliff to enjoy the clear water. Then we spent the day exploring Taroko with all it’s mountains and clear rivers. We spent a good chunk of time just lounging around in the water, from a stream to the Cave of Water Curtain, which is basically a waterfall inside a cave. It was super fun. If you like hiking and nature, this would be a great place to go.
