​​另类文化在台湾

I have come to appreciate the topic that I decided to research for my final project, because it enables me to combine activities that I love, and events that I would attend even if I didn’t have to do the project, with a learning experience. One thing I did not take into as much account for was time management; as all of the students might have realized by now, it is important to time your vlog filming strategically around our main course load and group activities. As a result, one setback I faced was being unable to go to one of the events I originally planned for (Soap’s Vintage Fair), so I decided to remove “vintage clothing culture” from my research topic. Luckily, our professors decided that we only need to film three vlogs, rather than four, so I have come out of this situation unscathed! 

While I am incredibly passionate about my final project topics, and I am also a film student, I have found that filming vlogs is very different and a bit more challenging to me than the usual medium of filming that I am used to. I am much more accustomed to filming in a secure environment, where the narrative is led by a script and the shots are pre-planned on a shotlist, and we have actors to play the roles on screen. What makes vlogging so different from filmmaking is that almost all factors are uncontrollable, your content is filmed impromptu, and the people who appear in your vlog are likely strangers from the street who may or may not have given you consent to appear in the video. As a result, going out and vlogging on my own makes me feel a bit self conscious, and it is sometimes a step out of my comfort zone, but I am learning that there’s also a beauty to being able to capture things candidly, without rehearsal or structure, but just as they are. I hope to become more confident filming vlogs in public, and even talking to strangers to appear in my vlog as well.

我觉得我的期末报告主题不但很有意思而且很重要。最近我有一些困扰、第一个是：我在外面录制vlog的时候让我有一点紧张、因为录制vlog跟录制电影不一样。我的主修是拍电影、所以录制电影的时候我很舒服、我的第二个困扰是：我们的时间越来越少，所以有的活动我不能去。比如，我会去Soap’s Vintage Fair,可是那天我们有事儿，没问题！为了提高我的vlogging勇气、我会在外面录制vlog下去。我也请我的台湾朋友帮我越来越认识台湾的另类文化。

为了第二个vlog我今天晚上会去一个另类的音乐会。这个音乐会在The Wall、我听说这个地方很有名。
