Beauty is subjective to every individual, however, there are specific parameters that society encourages people to follow. Feminine beauty standards are different around the world therefore I would like to examine the perception of feminine beauty standards in Taiwan. In order to gain a better understanding of where the majority of influence is rooted in Taiwanese society, a comparison of the Western ideal portrayed in mass media will be noted. Among the four topics, skin complexion in tone and texture, facial shape, body image and body modifications will be explored. 

在台湾我想看女人的美容标准 (mei3rong2 biao1zhun3 – beauty standards). 我觉得台湾的美容标准不一样外国的。我觉得台湾的美容标准不一样外国的。所以我想看台北的女人的面对，身体 (shen1 ti3 - body)，和身体更改 (geng1 gai3 - changes).   

I will be examining the desire for a whiter skin complexion at two popular cosmetic drugstores, Cosmed and Watsons. How many products promote whitening? What other qualities are mentioned? What is the historical context related to pale-white skin (一白遮三丑)? Advertisements in Taipei also often portray a reoccurring image – a small and slender V-shaped face, big eyes and a petit high-arching nose. In addition to asking several individuals, I will also briefly analyze magazine covers and discuss similarities among them. 

我觉得很多女人喜欢白面色。所以我想去看Cosmed 和 Watsons 的标签(biao1 qian1 - label) 说什么。和一白遮三丑的含义 (han2 yi4 – meaning). 

在台湾广告 (guang3 dao4 - advertisments) 说你喜欢小面对，大眼睛(yan3 jing1 - eyes) 和小鼻子 (bi2 zi - nose).
