ABOUT ME
My name is Eric. I’m a third year student at UBC. I grew up in Peru, now I am at university in Vancouver. After studying two years of business at UBC, I decided to change majors. Now I am studying math. At university, I took two introductory Chinese courses. Because I like learning languages and improve my Chinese proficiency, I went to Chinese program in Taiwan for 6 weeks in the summer. Before coming to Taiwan, I am already fluent in Spanish and English.
我叫泓键。我是三年级的UBC的学生。我从秘鲁长大的，现在我在温哥华上大学。学了商业的专业两年后，我决定换专业。现在我的专业是数学。在大学的时候，我学两个很简单的中文课。因为我喜欢学语言和想提高我的中文水平，所以上暑假的时候，我去台湾学中文学了六个星期。来台湾以前我会流利地说英文和西班牙话。
WHAT THIS PROGRAM BROUGHT ME
After going to Taiwan, my Chinese proficiency only got better and better. I not only learned more about how to live in Taiwan, but also get to know more Taiwanese culture. Overseas culture may not be the same as your country, so people may find some trouble adapting to it. But, I find that going to an overseas program is a good method to learn Chinese and at the same time live in the culture. In my opinion, the overseas program was very useful and fun. Every day we would explore places we have never been to before. After going to taiwan, I am not afraid to make a mistake in Chinese. So, later I think learning Chinese will be easier, because I won’t be afraid to use the language.
来台湾以后，我中文水平越来越好。我不但学更好知道怎么住在台湾，而且认识多台湾的文化。海外的文化可能长得不像你国家的，所以有的人的想很难习惯。但是我觉得在海外学是很好的办法一边学中文一边住在文化。我觉得在海外暑期班很有用，也很好玩。每天在台湾我跟朋友一起去没去过的很有意思的地方。来台湾以后，我不怕说错中文。所以我觉得后来学中文的时候会很容易，是因为我不会怕说。

EXPLORING TAIWAN
Practicum Day
At the Practicum weekend, the teacher gave us time to travel around Taiwan. I feel that although it is difficult to prepare, it is also very fun.
During class, the teacher told us that they would give us 5,000 Taiwan dollars each to travel. But first we had to prepare our plans. Where are we going? How to go? When are we coming back? Because we were a bit confused, the teachers introduced interesting places in Taiwan that week. One teacher recommended that we must go to Hualien because the weather in Hualien is very comfortable, and its scenery is beautiful.
Booking a train ticket is difficult. We thought that the train ticket was sold out on Saturday, but my friend took a lot of effort to buy it. Then, we also booked the hotel room and rented the driver to take us around Hualien. We went to Hualien for three days.
As soon as we arrived in Hualien, we went to the hotel to rest for an hour. Later, we went to the hotel to see the surroundings. I think when we are very interesting, it is time to do massage. I have a massage with my friends every day. Very comfortable! Then, the next day, at four in the morning we went to the beach to go kayaking to watch the sunrise.

Practicum weekend is not only fun, but also useful. We used Chinese to chat with Taiwanese people.
Practicum weekend的时候, 老师给我们时间去台湾的附近旅行。我觉得的虽然旅行的时候很难准备，可是也好玩极了。
上课的时候，老师告诉我们他们会给我五千台币去旅行。但是我们得准备我们的打算。去哪里？怎么走去？几点回来？因为我们一点困惑, 所以那个星期的时候老师们介绍很有意思的台湾的地方。一位老师推荐我们一定去花莲是因为现在花莲的天气很舒服，也他的风景很美。
订火车票很难。我们以为星期六的火车票卖完了，可是我的朋友费了很大的力气才买到。然后呢，我们也订了旅馆的房间，也租司机带我们出去玩。我们去了花莲三天。
我们一到花莲，就去酒店休息一个小时。后来，我们自己去酒店的附近逛逛。我觉得一个很有意思的时候是做了按摩的时候。我每天跟朋友做了一次按摩。舒服极了！然后，下天的时候，早上四点我们去了海滩去皮划艇看日出。
Practicum weekend不但很好玩，而且很有用。我们跟台湾人用了中文聊天。
